Huby village walk

Following interest expressed via the Neighbourhood Plan consultation events, a group of local residents have been meeting regularly over the last few months to investigate walks in and around Huby. We aim to produce printed and/or online guides for a number of walks but we have to get all of the details right so each one takes quite a lot of time to produce.
In May we decided to concentrate on one walk – Folly Wood and Cass Plantation. This has gone through several versions and the finished walk is now available to download as a pdf – here.

We would like the residents of Huby to walk it following the map and instructions and then to let us have their comments – good or bad! We will then have a model for how to produce guides to other walks around the village.

Introducing Pure Harmony Holistic Therapies

pure-harmonyLet me help you to de-stress, relax, ease those pains, feel better and to enjoy some ‘me time’ and life! Based in Huby you don’t have to travel far to feel the benefit of a Pure Harmony therapy.

My holistic treatments are individually tailored to suit each client depending on their particular need.  An initial consultation is included in your first appointment, and together, we will determine what your needs are and how you can benefit from the therapies I offer, whilst treating your body as a whole.  You might have an ache or just want some pampering time, either way I’m here to help.  Here’s a quick explanation of the therapies I offer:

HOLISTIC TREATMENTS

Aromatherapy & Swedish MassageAromatherapy massage is gentle and relaxing. Using a combination of essential oils, selected for your mood, aches or pain, diluted in a carrier oil, an aromatherapy massage can help to ease muscle tension, stress, fatigue, whilst helping the body to relax, so that you feel calmer and have a better sense of well-being and harmony.  Swedish massage is suitable for people with tense muscles. It can invigorate the body, helping to improve the lymphatic system and to remove and eliminate toxins, whilst at same time bringing fresh blood, oxygen and nutrients to many parts of the body. By combining these techniques I can create a treatment exclusively to suit you!

Foot Spa & MassageStarting with arelaxing foot spa with invigorating and de-stressing salts, herbs and oils, finished off with a relaxing foot massage incorporating reflex techniques, exclusively using Pure Harmony Foot Mousse, this treatment ensures your feet are pampered to the full.

Indian Head MassageUsing techniques that have been used in India for over a thousand years, let the stress ease from your body, as your head, scalp, shoulders, upper back and face are massaged, easing tension, headaches, knots and bringing relief to the body and mind, and improving your circulation and lymphatic system, whilst in a seated position.  Get ready to float out of the treatment room!

Ear Candling (thermo-auricular therapy) Both ears are treated using hollow tubes made from organic flax, which contain beeswax, herbs, honey and therapeutic oils , and are followed by an ear and facial massage. Clients have found that ear candling has helped to alleviate sinus problems, headaches, colds, sore throats, reduce tinnitus, stress, glue ear and swimmers ear. It is suitable for children of all ages and is a good alternative for people who have found syringing uncomfortable.  Many clients find it relaxing, and experience a calming effect.

PAMPER TREATMENTS

FacialsWhy not treat yourself to a 30 minute facial which incorporates massage whilst cleansing, toning and moisturising, wholly using Pure Harmony facial products.  Or an hour treatment incorporating the above but also using massage and acupressure techniques to help de-stress the head, neck, shoulders and arms, ensuring that you are relaxed whilst feeling beautiful.   Or if you want, go for the ultimate treatment and have the Pure Harmony Natural Face Lift. The amazing results are clear for all to see, using East meets West massage techniques, including cleansing, face mask, toning, moisturising, using Pure Harmony facial products.  Over a period of time skin appears rejuvenated, and wrinkles seem to be dramatically reduced for many without the need for painful surgery. A natural instant facelift can be achieved with this treatment and clients return again and again for the results.

So if you fancy a bit of me time, arrange for someone to look after the children, pets and /or husband, and book a session with myself and have an hour of Pure Harmony!  Bliss!

Huby Women’s Institute

theWI_Logo_IW_RGB_2col-cropped-for-website-headerHuby Women’s Institute, part of a national organisation, has been in existence for 80 years; despite the difficulties of the war years, essential fund-raising & ageing membership the institute is on-going & thriving. It provides an interesting & thought provoking outlet for the women of Huby.

Any WI has as much to do with leisure as learning. Despite the cliché it is not all jam making, singing Jerusalem nor posing for calendars. One purpose is that it acknowledges drifts in social change, robustly supports a variety of campaigns & visibly gives opinion on social & health issues. Not only does the WI entertain but it educates & there is much to appreciate in the local organisation’s programmes. Once the effort has been made to get involved, even to sit watch & listen, there is no problem in being accepted.
Huby WI runs an interesting & changing programme of various activities; excellent speakers, theatre & cinema visits, a rambling group as well as an annual trip to a place of historic interest are some of the events we offer.

It offers the time to engage in topical & relevant issues in the village & discussions of ideas for a new generation. The local WI has a remarkable record of ensuring that sick members are visited regularly & it aids in the collection of medication for housebound or villagers lacking transport.

Huby WI is anxious to increase its membership for current members are concerned that this long established organisation may lose its viability due to the natural order of ageing & mobility. It will be regretful if this stalwart of Huby’s social activities is lost to a new generation of village ladies.

Any lady, young or old, would be most welcome at any of the monthly meetings. There is the opportunity for three free taster visits before the possibility of membership is broached.

Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday in Huby Chapel at 7.45pm.

Please feel free to come along and see what we are about.

Are you interested in walks around the village?

Do you have ideas about how people could be encouraged to use rights of way locally?

Interest has been expressed through the Neighbourhood Plan in the provision of information about walks in and around Huby.

A meeting is being organised for interested people to get together to discuss how we could go about getting such information.  The meeting will be very informal!

Everyone is welcome
